At Alliance Data, we truly care about giving back to the communities where we live and work. And one of the biggest areas of focus for us is supporting the well-being of children.
We believe every child should have what they need to grow and thrive.
That’s why we have such a longstanding relationship with Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In 2015, we donated $400,000 to help build data architecture that links all pediatric and research data sources that bolsters the hospital’s ability to deliver more effective patient care, improve research outcomes, and create data-sharing collaboration opportunities with other community partners and programs.
And again, we’re giving back in a big way.
Alliance Data is giving $1 million to help the hospital’s Be the Reason campaign, a fundraising effort to ensure that children get the care they need—and that the scientists get the funding they need to continue to look for cures.
The majority of this gift will go toward behavioral health—an area that tends to be underpaid when it comes to insurance coverage where families could really use financial support. Each of the following initiatives will receive $250,000:
- Cancer Survivors and Social Interaction Research
- Center for Suicide Prevention and Research
- Medication-Assisted Treatment for Addiction Program
- Family and Volunteer Services and Sibling Clubhouse
Our decision to invest wasn’t just fueled by all the organization does for our community, but also by our large family of associates who work in the Columbus area—many of whom have benefitted from the hospital’s services for themselves or loved ones.
“At Alliance Data, giving back is one of our core values. We invest strategically in programs that align with our business strengths—those that can demonstrate meaningful and measurable impact. That’s why Nationwide Children’s Hospital is such a great fit for us,” says Melisa Miller, president of Alliance Data’s card services business, who also serves on the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation Board. “We are honored to help Nationwide Children’s Hospital make a difference in the lives of children and their families—both through financial support and volunteer efforts.”
This gift also brings new opportunities for our associates to volunteer with Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
We’re supporting Nationwide Children’s Reach Out and Read® program, which provides families with counsel and literacy resources, like new books. Our gift also means we get to name Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sibling Clubhouse—a special place for preschool and school-aged children to play and learn while their siblings receive care. The new Alliance Data Siblings Clubhouse will be officially commemorated at a reception on October 25.
When we invest with Nationwide Children’s Hospital, it has a significant impact across their most important campaigns. And we’re proud to continue to make a difference for children and their families.
