Alliance Data's new SelectCheckout keeps loyalty in the forefront of payments

COLUMBUS, Ohio, October 23, 2017Alliance Data’s card services business, a premier provider of private label, co-brand and business credit card programs, today introduced SelectCheckoutSM, a new capability that makes it easier to pay with a brand’s private label credit card during online checkout. Designed to put the customer first and reduce shopping cart abandonment, it allows cardmembers to redeem rewards and pay with their store-branded credit card with a simple click of a button. While credit card networks and payment providers have similar solutions for storing a customer’s credit card credentials securely online, Alliance Data is one of the first to offer a custom and scalable store-branded capability for private label card programs that uniquely connects the card’s rewards program to the card payment experience online.

Since SelectCheckout is retailer-branded and customizable based on a brand’s needs, it elevates awareness of their card program and builds loyalty and tender share. In addition, cardmembers can see their available credit and rewards information, and redeem rewards while making a purchase, increasing shopping cart conversion. Customers will see how close they are to their next reward, inspiring a bigger basket size. This new payment solution is desktop-, tablet-, and mobile-optimized to provide a consistent and seamless experience across all channels, and requires minimal effort for integration into a brand’s existing e-commerce site. Additionally, SelectCheckout removes the need for retailers to store credit card data online.

From Cart to Confirmation in Four Easy Steps

Retailers’ current online checkout process has an abandonment rate as high as 77 percent[1]. There are a number of reasons why, from customers not having credit card information or a promo code on hand to frustration with filling out lengthy order forms. With SelectCheckout, the customer can checkout easier. After a one-time sign-up, customer information such as name, shipping address and card information is auto-filled so fewer keystrokes are necessary. Customers may view progress to the next reward. Selecting “Keep Me Signed In” eliminates the need to log in again, ensuring even faster checkouts during future visits.

SelectCheckout is convenient for private label cardmembers to use with just a few simple steps. The customer:

  • clicks SelectCheckout option at checkout;
  • enters credit card account user name and password during the initial visit;
  • selects available reward(s) to redeem;
  • views order details, rewards status and remaining credit line available, places order… and earns more rewards for the purchase.
